Get Outside Right Now: College Pond
Tammy is a Marine Corps pirate from Parris Island, South Carolina. After many years in the Midwest, he now lives in Southeast Georgia, a small Navy town north of Jacksonville, Florida. Weston Water is part of the city's water management system. Ponds and canals provide storage for rainwater that runs off roads and other waterlogged areas. Storm water is any water outside the home, such as rain, irrigation systems, water used for washing cars or pressure cleaning, flowing into a street drain called a basin, or bodies of water such as lakes and streams.
When there is a strong storm, lakes and streams are lowered to accommodate the rising tide, and over time the water bodies will return to normal levels as more water from the storm event is dumped into the Everglades or the Atlantic Ocean. .
Because Weston's lakes are built to store stormwater — they contain stormwater and are not built to recreational standards — swimming and boating are prohibited by city ordinance. Lakeside drops can be steep, not steep, and the center of the lake is about 40 feet deep.
Plants along the shores of water bodies are known as "littoral meadows," which provide food and habitat for the birds, insects and fish found in the area. It also serves as a treatment area for runoff from the walls and is important to water quality, allowing Weston residents and visitors to enjoy clean water conditions. Different vegetation attracts dirt.
